Cricklade Police Station Sale Agreed!

We have exciting news!  Since our last post in February about Cricklade Police Station being put up for sale, CDF has been a little quiet – but we have not been idle!  We are delighted to report the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner has approved our bid to buy Cricklade Police Station. This is now with both legal parties and we expect completion mid-August.

This is a rare opportunity, for us, as a community, to buy and protect a key High Street property for the future and to help enhance the vibrancy and viability of our High Street.

The Potential

The current poor exterior will be redesigned and built to something more in keeping with other High Street property. We will be appointing architects to look at this, and the prospective internal layout, in the next week or so.

The ground floor of the property will be retained for commercial / retail use to provide additional business(es) for the community and to improve local employment opportunities. The upper floor may be given to small starter flats prioritised for local people.

Cricklade Needs You!

Through our existing membership and the very kind support already pledged we are fully confident of purchasing the property in August. But we will also need funding to develop the property.

Our fundraising target to develop the police station is £200,000 – with a stretch target of £250,000, so we really need your help and help from as many people as possible.

How you can help

Become a member – you can become a member for as little as £50, but the more shares you buy the closer we get to our target. We hope to pay interest on any shareholdings above £2,500 once the property is completed and earning income.
