Just a quick update to let you know that we managed to hold our AGM via email in accordance with our Society rules – please see our draft minutes under the ‘Governance’ section of our website.

It was a far cry from what we intended to do, which was to hold a public meeting to introduce the Society to our many supporters and the wider Cricklade public.  As we all know, High Streets up and down the country have been under pressure due to the changes in our shopping habits.  Well, that pressure has hugely increased due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the government’s lockdown measures to tackle the virus.  So how will Cricklade’s High Street businesses respond when lockdown measures are lifted?  The answer to that is that we don’t know – but there must be concerns that some businesses may take the decision not to reopen at all.

Hopefully, the government will launch initiatives to kickstart the economy, especially the High Streets devastated by the pandemic. And when they do, we will try our best to help.  More than ever, it will be important for us all to play our part in continuing to support our High Street businesses.
